One Minute Motors: Toyota C-HR+ Review
We take a closer look at the all-new Toyota C-HR+, exploring its futuristic design, practical interior, technology and electric range.
In this episode of One Minute Motors, we take a closer look at the all-new Toyota C-HR+, a fully electric crossover that takes the familiar C-HR name in a very different direction.
The original C-HR shook up the crossover market when it arrived in the UK back in 2016, but despite sharing the name, the C-HR+ isn't simply an electric version of the existing hybrid. Its design feels even more futuristic, with a slick rear end and smooth curves contrasted by a much more aggressive, boxy front.
Toyota offers three trim levels: Icon, Design and Excel, with the range-topping Excel featured in our video. Practicality is solid, with a decent-sized boot that includes storage for your charging cable and plenty of room for passengers. The Excel also gets a smart combination of suede and synthetic leather upholstery.
There's plenty of useful technology up front too. Storage is generous, while two wireless phone chargers come as standard, removing the inevitable argument over whose phone gets charged first. There's also a large infotainment screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and a driver's display neatly integrated further back into the dashboard.
On the road, the C-HR+ is smooth and easy to drive, with Toyota's safety technology working intuitively in the background. Depending on the model, drivers can choose from versions offering between 283 and 377 miles of range on a single charge.
Pricing starts at around £34,500 for the Icon, rising to just under £42,000 for the Excel when equipped with the JBL sound system and panoramic roof.
With distinctive styling, a practical cabin, useful technology and a strong maximum range, the C-HR+ represents an interesting step forward for Toyota's electric line-up.
