Toyota C-HR+: 5 Features That Caught Our Attention

The Toyota C-HR+ isn't exactly shy when it comes to its design. We've recently spent some time getting to know Toyota's electric SUV, and while there's plenty of technology underneath the surface, it's some of the smaller details that really caught our attention. For this episode of Top 5 Things, we've picked out five features that stood out during our time with the C-HR+. First up is the styling. Toyota has given the C-HR+ an almost cyberpunk appearance, combining a boxy shape with sharp, futuristic design details. It's distinctive without simply following the same formula as every other electric SUV, and we like seeing manufacturers prepared to take a few risks with how their cars look. Our second choice is much smaller – and arguably much less necessary. The centre storage compartment can be opened sideways from either side. Is this solving a major problem faced by drivers? Probably not. But it's exactly the kind of unusual little detail we enjoy discovering in a new car, and it means both the driver and front passenger can easily get into the compartment. Third is the infotainment screen. It's a particularly crisp display, with everything looking sharp and clear whether you're navigating Toyota's own system or using wireless Apple CarPlay. More importantly for everyday driving, we found the interface straightforward and easy to navigate. Number four goes to the safety and driver assistance technology. The C-HR+ comes packed with systems designed to make everyday driving that little bit easier, including adaptive cruise control and pre-collision assistance. There's also a 360-degree camera system, giving you a much better view around the car when manoeuvring or squeezing into a parking space. Finally, we've got a feature that could settle a surprisingly common argument between drivers and passengers: dual wireless phone chargers. Rather than giving you a single charging pad and leaving everyone to fight over it, the C-HR+ provides two. Better still, they're standard on every model, so you don't need to move further up the range or add an option just to get them.
